Experimenting with Mezzotint
The fingerprint print came from my first mezzotint plate (not sure I rocked it long enough); the second image is of just the copper plate with ink, as the plate isn't finished yet.

Pam,
ReplyDeleteI really like both of these images. I think printmaking might be your new direction. You know that I like the lines in the first image, like wood grains. I forget, but did you draw those or are they taken from one of your fingerprints? I love the chiaroscuro effect in the second image. Is that of vertebra? Did you draw that or is it from an x-ray? It looks like a charcoal drawing. I can't wait to see them on paper. Your work is always bold and assertive. Bold in it's sharp contrasts, and assertive in it's subject matter.
P.S. I should add that "bold" and "assertive" mean, to me, that your work has a strong and solid presence.
ReplyDeletethese are beautiful!
